Alert: Health Connector Open Enrollment WellSense Provider Network and Anonymous Browsing Issues for Plan Year 2024

WellSense 2024 Provider Network Issue  

When helping applicants and members shop for plan year 2024 coverage, please note WellSense provider data is not currently available through the Health Connector's plan finder tool. What you’ll experience:

  • When signed into a person’s application, WellSense plans will not show in-network providers when users choose to use the plan finder tool within the HIX system.
  • During shopping, WellSense will appear at the end of the shopping experience before a plan is added to the cart available. It will show: This Plan Covers 0 Providers, which may cause confusion for the Applicant or Member.
  • Applicants and members should be advised to confirm in-network providers by reviewing the provider search tool on WellSense's website or contacting WellSense directly before enrollment.

Anonymous Browsing Provider Network Issue

When using the anonymous search tools, the results are showing plan year 2023 networks for all participating carriers.

  • Please note this for anyone you may be assisting.
  • Check back regularly for updates.

Here are some talking points you can use to help explain this issue to an applicant or member as you’re working with them.

WellSense Network

  • The Health Connector currently does not have details on providers offered by WellSense for next year.
  • We know it’s important that people can confirm the doctors and other providers they know and have relationships with.
  • Applicants and Members can contact WellSense at 855-833-8120 or go online to the WellSense website.
  • WellSense can help review someone’s options in their available network.
  • Applicants and Members can also see if other Health Connector carriers have the doctors they’re looking for as part of their networks.
  • The WellSense provider information may become available in the coming weeks.
  • Please check back online to see if there are updates.

Anonymous Search Network Results

  • The provider network search tools that are outside of someone's application are showing plan year 2023 network results for all carriers until plan shopping for 2023 ends on 11/23.
  •  To get results for 2024, use the plan finder tool from the person's application.

As always, if an applicant or member has a relationship with a provider that they want to maintain, they can confirm their network participation by reaching out to that plan directly.

Applicants, members, and those helping them will see a banner on the “Find Providers and Facilities screen” in the shopping experience when someone selects to use the plan finder tool. WellSense providers will not show at all. People should be directed to call WellSense for 2024 provider information before selecting a plan.

The message below will display in either English, Spanish or Portuguese.

When an applicant, member or someone helping them begins their search in the Find Provider and Facilities they will see screenshots similar to the ones below. The provider list will show all plans accepted whereas WellSense will not display even if the provider is in-network. 

WellSense plans will show with a message: This plan covers: 0 providers. This may cause confusion for applicants and members. They should be advised to contact WellSense to confirm before the plan is selected.
