UMass Disability Evalution Services SSDI Advocates use and provide experienced legal, medical and vocational experts who understand how the process works at the initial, reconsideration and ,if needed, the Administrative Law Judge phases of the proceedings.  The advantage to the applicant is that the disability experts who review the applican'ts case file are part of the University of Massachusetts Medical School's Disability Evaluation Services unit (DES).  These professionals include physicians, psychologists, vocational rehabilitation counselors, nurses and attorneys with years of experience.  The UMass team has processed thousands of disability determination applications; for example, DES makes 40,000 disability determinations a year for several states and in a project with the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) called SSIP, DES personnel placed in the Worcester and Springfield DTA offices were able to complete nearly 300 SSI applications.  Flyers: Provider Contract Opportunity, Clinical Disability Assessment Training, SSDI Advocacy Group.
