Accessing Affordable Health Insurance: What Service Providers Need to Know

September 10, 2021

Join the Conversations – September 2021 Training

Wednesday, September 15, 2021 (1:00-2:30pm)

(Live Streaming Webinar Format)

The phrase “Open Enrollment” can bring up a wide range of thoughts and feelings in the minds of service providers. There can be a sense of excitement and increased hope that the people they serve will be able to access the insurance they need to support their health needs, to be well, and to increase their quality of life. And the very same phrase – “Open Enrollment” – can also create anxiety as providers begin to think about timeframes and deadlines, understanding various models and options, and walking with and assisting individuals and families in understanding their choices and making their decisions. It’s all wonderful, but it can also feel like a lot to manage - in a limited amount of time.

This training is intended to support you for this critically important work that you do for people in real need by focusing on three key topics:

  • Massachusetts Health Connector
  • Medicaid (MassHealth)
  • Medicare (SHINE)

These experienced presenters will introduce and outline each of these programs and their associated resources – and effective access strategies. These presenters include:

Niki Conte, M. Ed

Associate Director of Public Outreach and Education,

Massachusetts Health Connector

Jeanette Deroy

Regional SHINE Director,

Attleboro Council on Aging

Cynthia Phillips, BSW, MSW

State Director of the SHINE Program

(SHINE - Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone)
